Research Abstract |
characteristics of students' activities in geometrical problem solving by using Cabri-Geometry from viewpoint of Japan-France cross-cultural research. For the purpose, we made four didactical experiments with junior high school students. Experiment 1 : Problem solving by using Paper-Pencil in pairs Experiment 2 : Problem solving by using Gabri-Geometry in pairs Experiment 3 : Problem solving by using Paper-Pencil in individually Experiment 4 : Problem solving by using Cabri-Geometry in individually The main conclusions are as follows : (1) In drawing of figure, the students who used paper-pencil tended to draw the figure based on 'perceptive' recognitions for geometrical figures. (2) In proving of proposition, most of all the students who used Cabri-Geometry produced valid inferences based on 'operative' or 'discursive' recognitions for geometrical figures. (3) In problem solving in pairs, there was a tendency to modify their inadequate judgments and inferences based on 'perceptive' recognitions for geometrical figures through their social interactions. (4) It seems that most of all Japanese students had a prototype example of parallelograms and the prototype example depended on the Japanese culture.
