| Research Abstract |
本研究課題では、1998年7月11日から19日にかけて、名古屋国際会議場で開かれる、第32回宇宙空間科学コスパー総会の分科会として実施される、″BO.1Sample Return Missions to Small Bodies″を対象とした企画準備を行った。Deputy OrganizerのDr.B.C.Clark(Lockheed Martin Astronautics,USA)や、Organizing Committeeメンバーの協力を得て、研究会のプログラムを立案し、講演呼びかけを行った結果、24件の講演申し込みを受け取っている。また、″BO.4 Return to Mars″のMSOであるDr.A.L.Albee(Caltech,USA)と個別に交渉して、Future planning for sample erturn from Mars and small bodiesという半日のジョイント・セッションを開催することに決まった。分科会BO.1では、2002年に宇宙科学研究所が打ち上げる小惑星サンプルリターン・ミッション(MUSES-C)や、1999年にNASAが行う彗星ダスト回収計画(STARDUST)の現状紹介と共に、対象天体の地上観測による探査の支援、回収試料の地上分析機能の充実等、サンプルリターンを有効に活用するために必要な事項が討議される。
この分科会を意義あるものとするために、我が国におけるサンプルリターン・ミッションの推進母体(MUSES-Cサイエンスグループ)内でのサイエンス会議を実施すると共に、アメリカ、欧州における計画推進母体との研究内容面での事前の打ち合わせを行った。このために、研究分担者が、NASA/Ames研究所と、Rosseta mission小研究会に参加した。
