Research Abstract	これまでのCOE活動による経済学分野での成果を基に、複雑系研究の学際的交流拠点形成のため、各研究班が以下の活動を行った。マクロ動学研究班では、経済の自己組織臨界現象、多部門経済と多数均衡の関係、高次元カオスの共同研究を英文論文にまとめた。また、非線形マクロ動学の研究会での共同研究を研究会メンバーによる論文としてまとめ、東大出版会から出版する準備が進んでいる。西村が、海外の出版社から非線形動学のハンドブックを出版する計画、また、Journal of Difference Equation and Applicationsにゲスト・エディターとして、非線形経済動学と経済理論の特集号も編集する準備も進みつつある。さらに、国際経済における均衡の不決定性や複雑性について英文論文をまとめ、特集号をつくる計画が始まった。人間の意思決定の研究について、アンケートのパイロット調査を始め、実験も一部行い、共同研究のための会合を、工学、生物の専門家を交えて開催した。人口成長、教育制度などを研究会で分析し、大学院生、社会人などを対象とする大規模な調査と分析を行った。地域経済研究班では、空間経済システムを複雑系として捉える「新しい空間経済学」の基礎理論の再構築を進めた。集積の理論と内生的成長理論を融合し発展させることで、集積、イノベーション、経済成長の関連を解明するとともに、その厚生経済学的含意を明らかにした。実証研究では、産業集積度測度を新たに開発、1980〜2000年の日本のデータを用いて、産業・人口・人的資本の空間分布における自己組織化・パターン形成について分析し、単純かつ安定的な法則により特徴付けられることを明らかにした。研究交流では、都市経済学研究会を定期的に開催し、経済学・地理学・土木・交通工学等空間経済学に関連の深い国内外研究者による学際的研究交流を促進するとともに、国外研究者を招聘し、共向研究を行った。特に、国際的共同研究として、V.Henderson(ブラウン大)P.Krugman(プリンストン大)、T.E..Smith(ペンシルバニア大)、J.-F.Thisse(ルーベンカトリック大)、A.Turrini(欧州委員会)ら、欧米の研究者と共同論文を執筆した。ゲーム研究班では、経済システムにおける複雑系相互依存メカニズムの研究をゲーム理論的に基礎づけるために、人間の意思決定、認知、限定合理性および戦略的行動を分析する理論的枠組みを構築し、ゲーム実験による理論成果の検証を行った。具体的には、(1)組織の形成と進化のメガニズム、(2)集団意思決定プロセス、交渉ルール、情報構造、統治構造などの組織の内部構造と市場ルール、人口成長、個人の多様性などの経済システムの外的変数の相互依存関係、(3)地球環境保全のための国際的な協調枠組みの構築、などを研究した。これらの成果を通じて、進化と学習のゲーム理論、交渉ゲーム理論、契約とインセンティヴの理論、産業経済学、環境経済学などの個別研究分野に対して新しい理論的貢献を行った。研究を遂行するにあたり、経済学、政治学、社会心理学、生物学、工学、数理科学、情報科学などの分野の研究者との研究交流を活発に行い、ゲーム理論的視点から複雑系システムを研究する学際的かつ国際的な研究ネットワークの基礎が構築された。非線型計量分析班では、多変量定常時系列の相関構造に関するノンパラメトリック・セミパラメトリックな検定方法を開発した。多変量定常時系列の相関構造についての帰無仮説および対立仮説各々を表現したスペクトル密度行列に対する推定量を構成し、これら2つの推定量の間の「距離」が小さいか大きいかにより、仮説を検定する方法を提案した。この方法は汎用性が高く、時空間モデルにおける、時間相関と空間相関が積の形で表現される「乗法型モデル」の検定、成分時系列の独立性の検定、成分時系列の線形関係の検定など、社会科学、自然科学を問わず様々な時系列データに対する検定へ応用できる。また、都市・地域経済学と関連し、Varying Coefficient Regression Modelの環境価値測定への応用として、近隣の緑地面積、商業施設、迷惑施設、騒音などの要因が地価、家屋の価格に及ぼす影響に関する実証研究を、回帰係数が都心からの距離によって変化するモデルを首都圏のデータに適用して行い、従来の係数一定の回帰モデルとの異同、長所短所について研究を行った。
