Research Abstract

The result of this fiscal year is the point that it has been proved that "VHF wave Obihiro zone interferometer" designed and made as an experiment was the spotter plane which has a function as specification because of the concerned research execution. That is, it emanates in connection with thunder electric discharge. It can be concluded that it is the point that the aspect of the electric discharge which succeeds in locateing by - space decomposition ability when high, is commonly called "branch separation", and progresses in parallel almost simultaneous has visualized VHF/UHF band pulse. Usually, although visualization of an electric discharge way was VHF/UHF band and shape has been taken using the narrowband interfering method and a time lag method, in which method, the visualization about the electric discharge which progresses in the shape of tree is impossible, and although this research applicant etc. was realized for the first time in the world, he is not an overstatement. Cons … More equently, what takes the same course as the electric discharge way of the thunderstroke preceded until now, and the course from which the succession thunderstroke of the multiplex thunderbolt which will come for some dozens years and was believed is sometimes different are taken, and, as a result, it is shown clearly thunderbolt being a point of the thunderstroke which the thunderbolt point of a succession thunderstroke precedes, and that it is sometimes several km away. Furthermore, many observation-facts are found out taking advantage of the advantage of *s, such as detailed understanding about the starting point of thunder electric discharge, and the electric charge structure in the thundercloud which causes a multiplex thunderbolt, a development aspect of the electric discharge in a cloud, and electric wave observation. On the other hand, it succeeds also in observation of Red Sprites with a super-sensitive video camera, and is a joint research person. The New Zealand OTAGO university Red Sprite serves as the research result which should also mention having obtained the conclusion that it is "electric discharge" phenomenon to the ionosphere lower part from the thundercloud top part especially by collation with Professor D.Dowden's low cycle electromagnetic wave observation result, moreover - this - By observation of Red Sprite, the generating is not dependent on an area or latitude, it becomes and that it is a very general phenomenon has become being clear and the cause that the generating is found out successively after that in Hokuriku, the Mediterranean, etc. In addition, while official announcement printing of all the above-mentioned results is carried out at the U.S.geophysics meeting magazine and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, "VHF wave Obihiro zone interferometer" has become under the patent application (application number Japanese Patent Application No.11-170666).
