Research Abstract	人工衛星に搭載したマイクロ波レーダー海面高度計は,海面の高さを数センチの精度でグローバルに観測できる測器であり,そのデータは海洋と固体地球の力学に関する研究において極めて重要であると考えられている.本研究では,海洋物理学者と固体地球物理学者が互いに緊密な連携を取りながら協力研究を行うことを目指している. 今年度は,9月にアメリカとフランスの海外共同研究者各1名を,また10月にアメリカの海外共同研究者1名を招請し,各地で研究打合せ会を開催して情報交換を行った.10月にGPSに関する国際集会(国内)に研究分担者1名を派遣した.10月にフランスで開かれたTOPEX/POSEIDONとJason-1の科学検討チームの合同会合に,研究代表者と研究分担者計3名を派遣し,海面高度計に関連した本研究グループの研究成果を披露するとともに,国際的な最新の研究情報を得た.11月には,東京で開かれた地球科学技術推進機構の衛生海面高度計に関するワークショップに,研究代表者と研究分担者が多数参加し,衛星海面高度計データの処理や解析法に関する情報交換を行った.この集会に合わせてオーストラリアの海外共同研究者を招請し共同研究の促進を図った.その成果を集会の報告書としてまとめた. これらの活動によって以下の成果が得られた.TOPEX/POSEIDON海面高度計データを,現場の海洋観測データと組み合わせることによって,親潮や黒潮の流速や流量の変動,および北太平洋の広域の海面流速場の変動を記述できるようになった.また,海面高度計データの解析から海洋潮汐の日周潮および半日周潮の精密が向上し、かつ長周期潮に関する研究も進展した.さらに進んで,摩擦による潮流の減衰に関する研究も始まった.このほか,TOPEX/POSEIDONデータを用いた海域重力場決定精度の見積りや,海洋変動と地球重力場変動の関係などについての研究も進展した.
