Research Abstract

平成10年度は、右脳機能と左脳機能を統合化した脳構造化スーパーコンピュータの基本アーキテクチャの確立を目的として,右脳や左脳の各機能を計算機上で実現するための基礎研究を行なうとともに、得られた研究成果を58編の論文の形で一流学会にて発表した。
まず、右脳機能関係では,ニューラルネットワークを特に高度学習の見地から,イメージと記憶の方法について一歩踏み込んだ研究成果を出した。また,画像生成の研究も2次元から本格的3次元へと進み,単なるコンピュータグラフィックスからボリュームレンダリングへと発展した。その結果、写実的イメージとしての画質の向上と処理の高速化の両者を実現することができた。
また,左脳機能関係では,計算や論理の処理を中心に,いわゆる左脳が司る処理を合理化して高速に行うための基礎研究を進めた。計算処理については,ベクトル命令とスカラ命令を融合化した命令レベル並列処理の方法を確立した。さらに浮動小数点計算における計算時間の短縮や各種計算方式アーキテクチャの研究を行なった。左脳関係も記憶の研究は脳として必然的であり,処理とあわせて議論された。
以上,平成10年度は右脳と左脳に関して各種情報処理・蓄積・伝達の点からの基本モデルを構築し、数値実験を通してモデルの評価を行なった。そしてそれら結果を元に,頭脳の特徴を捉え,合理的な情報の処理と蓄積を行うための頭脳構造計算機のアーキテクチャを確立するためのデータが揃った。次年度では,本アーキテクチャの本格的な確立と汎用的な取り扱いに向けて,さらに研究を深めていく予定である。
