Research Abstract	本年度は東京農工大学と米国シカゴ大学とが開発した乳がん診断支援システム(CAD)の性能評価をそれぞれの立場から行い、相手側システムに対しての批評や助言を通して、システムの改良点を明確化することに主眼をおいた。平成10年6月にはシカゴ大学のグループが来日し、東京農工大学および国立がんセンター東病院にて意見交換の場を持った。東京農工大学においては、我々が開発した診断支援システムについて、主として工学サイドからアルゴリズムのさらなる高度化のために必要な具体策について、意見の交換を行った。また、国立がんセンター東病院においては、我々のシステムの臨床評価実験の結果や、具体的症例に基づいた医学および工学的立場からの意見交換を行った。平成10年11月〜12月には、日本側研究グループが米国シカゴ大学を訪問し、先方の開発したシステムについて議論を交わすと共に、診断支援システムを利用した場合と利用しない場合の診断率の変化を体験し、CADシステムの効果を実際に体験する機会を得た。
