Research Abstract	総括班は、各班の班長(稲垣、白川、阿久津)、本特定領域研究の全体としての企画、事務、庶務、ニュース発行等を担当する班員(京極、森川、西村、相本)、評価委員(荒田、御子柴、宇井、藤井)からなる。総括班は研究計画全体の調整をおこなうとともに、班会議、シンポジウム、ワークショップを開催し、班員相互の意志の疎通を計った。本年度は、特に中間ヒアリングに焦点を合わせて領域の運営を行った。平成11年度は班員相互の研究連絡を密にするために、シンポジウム、ワークショップ、班研究会を主催あるいは講演した。具体的には、公開シンポジウム(平成12年2月7日、東大・山上会館)、合同班会議(9月13日-15日)、東レ三島研修センター)、NMRワークショップ(8月3日-6日、北大学術交流会館)を主催した。また、構造生物学シンポジウム(7月21日-22日、薬学会館長井記念ホール)、CGGHシンポジウム(10月8日-9日、横浜パシフィコ)、生物物理学会シンポジウム(10月5日、和光市民文化センター)を後援した。本特定領域では、以下の大型機器を総括班において重点的に配備し、広く特定領域研究参加者の利用に供した。X線結晶構造解析用イメージングプレート(奈良先端大)、シリコングラフィックス社製グラフィックコンピューター(北大薬、横浜国大)である。
