Research Abstract	本研究の目的は、多細胞からなる植物の体を作るための遺伝的なシステムをあきらかにし、システムの働きを理解することである。植物多細胞系特定領域研究はAB二つの計画研究班(各班7名)と公募研究班(24名)を含んでいる。この総括班は、これらの研究組織の効率的な運用を目的としている。平成10年度の活動と成果は以下の通りである。1.研究連絡全体会議 7月にニュースレターとホームページを用いて本特定領域研究の研究目的と目標を班員に周知させ、同時に各班員の研究計画を示して討議した。1月21.22日の2日間にわたって京都ガーデンパレスで成果発表会を開き、今年度の内容について討議した。2.シンポジウム 10月16日に名古屋国際会議場で日本生化学会と合同のシンポジウム「植物における多細胞システム構築の分子機構」を開催し、7名の講演者が研究成果を発表して討論した。3.ワークショップ 12月17日にはパシフィコ横浜において日本分子生物学会と合同の公開ワークショップ「植物の形作りと細胞間ネットワーク」を開き、班員4名および班員以外の研究者3名のグループが発表して討論した。4.若手ワークショップ 10月21-23日の三日間、生駒山麓ふれあいセンターに班員の研究グループに属する大学院生や若手研究者が集まって研究の目的、方法、成果、夢について語り合う若手ワークショップを開催した。この会には200名が参加して37名が発表した。5.ニュースレター研究班員の間の情報交換のためにニュースレターを5回発行した。 6.情報ネットワーク緊急の連絡や普段の情報交換のために、ホームページ(http://www.kazusa.or.jp/gene-s2/mmm/)を作製し、e-mailによる連絡網を開設した。 7.総括班会議 1月22日に総括班会議を開催し、今年度の活動を報告し、研究の進捗状況についての問題点の整理して来年度に備えた。
