| Research Abstract |
本研究は大学等における脳研究を総合的に推進するために、新しい方法にもとづく展開の必要性から従来の研究体制にとどまらず、より柔軟性と新規性を加味した研究体制を構築することを目的とする。そのためには脳研究における学際性という最大の特徴をふまえて、人材養成や教育の体制作り、研究者間のネットワーク作り、脳研究基盤の拡大と研究体制の形成、研究者支援体制作りなど具体的推進方策の企画・立案・実施することである。平成11年以降は以下の項目について実施した。
1)国内外の研究動向調査と若手研究者の研究動向調査をふまえ、我が国の若手研究者の新しい発想により今後大きく発展することが見込まれる萌芽的研究等の重要分野、脳研究にとって伝統的に不可欠な分野、さらに研究資材の確保などを提示しながら、これらの研究の推進を担う若手研究者の発掘・育成、さらに研究者の公募を行った。
2)大学等における研究推進のために、個々の研究者のネットワークの構築と、このネットワーク化により共用すべき各種データベースの構築、関係ソフトの開発の整備を行った。
3)研究基盤の整備の一環として、(1)霊長目狭鼻類(ニホンザル、アカゲザル等)の確保と飼育管理、(2)新潟大脳研を中心とするブレインバンクの設立準備、(3)富山大を中心とするベクター作成、(4)大阪大を中心とするネコの飼育管理、などの支援を行った。
4)人材養成と教育の観点からトレーニングコースを東北大(仙台市)(外国人5人招聘)と岡崎国立共同研究機構で開催した。
5)研究者を米国、ヨーロッパに派遣して国際交流・実験動物管理などの調査を行った。
6)1999年度公募研究者による研究成果報告会とそれに対する評価を行った。
7)若手研究者と班員との共同研究の促進を図った。
