Research Abstract	本研究は大学等における脳研究を総合的に推進するために、新しい方策にもとづく展開の必要性から従来の研究体制にとどまらず、より柔軟性と新規性を加味した研究体制を確立することを目的とする。そのためには脳研究における学際性という最大の特徴をふまえて、人材養成や教育の体制作り、研究者間のネットワーク作り、脳研究基盤の拡充と研究体制の形成、研究者支援体制作りなど具体的推進方策の企画・立案・実施することである。平成12年は以下の項目について実施した。1)国内外の研究動向調査と若手研究者の研究動向調査等をふまえ、我が国の若手研究者の新しい発想により今後大きく発展することが見込まれる萌芽的研究等の重要分野、脳研究にとって伝統的に不可欠な分野、さらに研究資材の確保などを提示しながら、これらの研究の推進を担う若手研究者の発掘・育成を目的として研究者の公募を行った。それはA01先導的、萌芽的な研究探索、A02資材開発の調査研究であり、A01が376件、A02が66件の公募があった。2)大学等における研究推進のために、個々の研究者のネットワークの構築と、このネットワーク化により共有すべき各種データベースの構築、関係ソフトの開発の整備を行った。3)研究基盤の整備の一環として、(1)霊長目狭鼻類(ニホンザル、アカゲザル等)の確保と飼育管理、(2)新潟大脳研及び東京都老人総合研究所を中心とするブレインバンクの整備、(3)富山医科薬科大学、基礎生物学研究所でのベクター作成、(4)大阪大を中心とするネコの繁殖飼育管理、東京大学医科学研究所の実験動物の作成などの支援を行った。4)人材養成と教育の観点からトレーニングコースを岡崎国立共同研究機構(外国人研究者5人招聘)で開催した。また、著名な外国人研究者(5人)を招聘して全国数ヶ所において若手研究者との研究打合せ及び指導を行った。5)研究者を米国、ヨーロッパに派遣して国際交流・実験動物管理などの調査を行った。6)1999年度公募研究者による研究成果報告会とそれに対する評価を行った。7)2000年度公募研究者による研究成果報告会とそれに対する評価を行った。 8)若手研究者と班員との共同研究の促進を図った。
