| Research Abstract |
当研究の大きな目標は、(1)人文社会科学、とりわけ経済・経営学、人文地理学、考古学で個別に培われてきた素朴な地理的データの収集、管理、分析方法を体系化して「空間情報科学」としての汎用的方法を確立する、(2)空間情報科学に関連する研究を支援する共同利用の「空間データ基盤システム」の開発研究を行い、それを整備することである。
この目的を6年間で達成すべく、6年間の研究を行ってきた結果、以下のような成果を得た。
(1)6年間に渡り収集、構築した人文社会科学の研究に基盤的な空間データを、研究に直ちに使える形で提供出来るデータベースを作成した。
(2)上記収集した基盤的なデータを、地図を利用して検索するウェブシステム「クリアリングハウス」を東京大学空間情報科学研究センター(CSIS)と共同して開発し、実用運用を行っている。

(3)収集した基盤的な空間データを、広く全国の研究者と共用して使う「空間データ共用システム」をCSISと共同開発し、実用運転を行っている。

(4)経済・経営学、人文地理学、考古学を始めとする多くの分野で利用される既存の空間分析手法を整理してウェブそれらのソフトウェアを入手するウェブシステムを開発し、実用運転を行っている。

(5)人文社会科学の多くの分野で利用される既存の空間分析手法を新たに開発してソフトウェアとして実装し、それらウェブシステムを提供している。1年間の運用で、既に世界各国の多くの研究者に利用されるようになった。

(6)空間情報科学で国際的に著名なTaylor & Francis・CRCに6年間の成果をまとめた本Studies in Human and Social Sciences with GISを提案したところ審査員の審議の結果、出版を認められ出版の運びとなっている。
