Research Abstract

Spatial information used in Human-social sciences is collected and organized through a variety of field surveys and recorded as a kind of database, though it may not be computerized digital one. One of the most important bottleneck in developing and using. GIS is data acquisition and collection of digital spatial data. Improving the efficiency of data acquisition and collection will results in the drastic improvement of efficiency of research activities of individual scientists. Higher efficiency enables researchers to conduct surveys or data collection for wider areas and for longer period of time. Simultaneously more data will be generated and data exchange and sharing will be more promoted. It may provide more chances to analyze from different viewpoints the data stored in measurement drawings and field notes and to discover new values from them.
This study applies advanced spatial data acquisition technologies to several fields in Human-Social Sciences and promotes the utilization of digital spatial data and the development of analysis methods. In this fiscal year, 3D modeling methods for archaeological sites developed through a case study of Tyre, Lebanon were elaborated focusing on the sensor improvement, sensor combination and associated data processing methods. The know-how and findings obtained through this case study are summarized as a kind of guideline. In addition, a tracking method of human movement using laser radar was developed and through a series of experiments it was concluded that the human movement trajectory acquired with the laser radar are quite unique and effective for analyzing human behavior on the quantitative basis in cognitive science and behavioral science. The achievements are published as an scientific publication in English.
