Research Abstract |
In order to prepare for publishing of books titled "Agricultural History in Post-War Japan, " We have conducted study meetings many times. The series consists of two parts : historical process and special topics. A part for historical process is composed of 6 volumes : (1) 1937-45, (2) 1945-55, (3) 1955-70, (4) 1970-85, (5) 1985-92, (6)1992-. Another part for specific topics consists of 10 volumes : (1) Agricultural Materials Industries. (2) Food Industries, (3) Agriculture and environment, (4) Agricultural research and education, (5) Social history, (6) Land improvement, (7) Creation of viable farmers, (8) Agricultural organizations and farmers unions, (9) Agricultural policies of local government, (10) Excellent samples at the local level. The main purpose of this project it to examine a process of agricultural development in post-war Japan with reference to socio-economic conditions. Stress is laid on the following : (1) To take a systematic and historical approach ; (2) To accumulate historical records ; (3) To attach great importance to cases at the local level : (4) To pick up new topics ; (5) To give appropriate consideration to technological issues. A detailed chronological tables has been made as a basic materials for this project.
