Research Abstract |
As the progress of computer graphics and virtual reality technologies, we have been researching and developing new information retrieval and database technologies realated to virtual reality as follows : 1. Spatial Database and Visual Database 2. Virtual Reality Information Space 3. User Agent in Information Space 4. Multimedia Database We studied a mapping technology from relational data to information space, and proposed spatial OLAP model to represent tuples in information space. We also proposed semi-automatic database visualization techniques for object databases. We also made a prototype system which has a virtual reality interface using head-mounted displaies and data grobes, and virtual user agent in information space for information retrieval. One of the important issue of virtual user agent is human animation. We studied motion control techniques and realistic human animation. We also studied image database models and video database models.
