Research Abstract |
1. Independent authority database We reconstructed up an authority database belonging to no other databases from authority file of our Catalog Database of Japanese Classical Books. We developed this database on Object Oriented DataBase (OODB) system. We also supported two usages, one is a reference file on major DBMS of a personal computer to be able to use portably, the other is a retrieval system via internet on full-text search engine. 2. Reconstructjng catalog databases of microfilm and classical book in our collection We reconstructed our conventional databases into new style databases which refer above authority database. These databases are microfilm catalog database of our collection and catalog database of Japanese classical book in our collection. This reconstruction makes possible to retrieve any combination of our databases under authority control. We developed these databases on OODB system and the retrieval system on full-text search engine. 3. Modeling of distributed collaborative working process We made a new working model to change our conventional working style into distributed collaborative working process. We express one classical book as one bibliographic object in OODB.When we find there is a book, the object is created. More detailed information is put to the object, according to each working step, such as investigation, collecting by making copies, translating into text, and providing a service to users. Then the object has sufficient information. This model makes available "distributed" and "collaborative" working process that is ; - building data at distributed fieldwork in the investigation step - just adding information of each working step to each bibliographic object in OODB by each person at each step
