| Research Abstract |
リーマン面の量子構造という観点から低次元位相幾何に関する新しい統一的方法をあみ出すことを目的に,主に幾何的側面と代数的側面とに分かれて研究を進めた。そのなかで,結び目の量子不変量から結び目穂空間の双曲体積と呼ばれる計量的不変量が導かれることがあきらかとなった。さらに,双曲構造がはいる3次元多様体の双曲体積も量子不変量から導かれることがわかってきた。これらの事実は,量子不変量が,単に結び目や3次元多様体を分類するための指標となるばかりでなく,様々な幾何的情報までも含む不変量であることを示唆しており,量子不変量を用いて幾何的性質を調べる新たな手法を与えることに成功した。
また,量子不変量のある種の展開をあらわす有限型不変量や,有限型不変量を統一的に捕らえるウェブ図についても研究し,その新しい性質をいくつか明らかにした。
量子不変量は,共型場理論や,q-変型の理論などと密接に関係しているが,これらについても新しい知見を得ることができた。一つは頂点作用素代数の研究で,特に共形場理論のおける相関関数を厳密に決定する問題に深く関わる保型形式との理論との関係を解明した。また,q-変型の理論と関係する有限群のモデュラー表現について,projective indecomposable modulesのいわゆるheart(radicalをsocleで割ったもの)を調べ、heartがindecomposableでない場合を決定した。さらに,複素鏡映群のフロベニウス・シューア指数のq-変型を定義し,対称群およびimprimitiveな複素鏡映群の場合に具体的に計算した。
