Research Abstract |
Performances of a droplet generator and a droplet collector in Liquid Droplet Radiator under microgravity were investigated. As a result, it is concluded that (1) Droplet generator can produce the uniform droplet stream whose diameter and spacing is uniform under microgravity, (2) Splashes don't occur at the surface of the droplet collector in case that the uniform droplet stream that consists of droplets of 200 [μm] diameter collides against, (3) Splashes occur in case that the non-uniform droplet stream collides against and the uniform droplet stream that consists of droplets larger than 400 [μm], (4) Centrifugal collector is effective to carry the working fluid that is collected, (5) Liquid film that is a few millimeter thick is effective to prevent droplets of 400 [μm] diameter from splashing, (6) There is small dependency between splashes and angles formed where a droplet stream collides against the surface on the droplet collector.
