Research Abstract |
1)Adrenal metastasis from renal cell carcinoma : significance of adrenalectomy : Adrenal metastases were investigated in 256 patients with RCC undergone nephrectomy from 1977 to 1996 in Tohoku University Hospital. The risk of adrenal metastasis did not correlate with T classification, grade, and tumor location. The adrenal gland was thought to be a "fertile soil" for spread of renal cell carcinoma. (Int J Urol. under revision) 2)Establishment of 4 new human renal cell carcinoma cell lines expressing globo-series ganglioside: TOS-1, TOS-2, TOS-3 and TOS-3LN cell lines derived from human RCC tissues were established. These cell lines showed different expression pattern of globo-series ganglioside. (Tohoku J Exp Medicine : 189,95-105,1999.) 3)Association of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) antigen, disialylgalactosylgloboside (DSGG), with c-Src and Rho A in clustered domains at the surface membrane : DSGG is clustered in RCC to form a microdomain in which it is closely associated with c-Src, Rho A and FAK and may constitute a functional unit. The functional organization of such units may be essential in determining malignant properties of RCC cells. (Int J Oncol : 16,529-536,2000.) 4)DSGG mediates adhesion of RCC and lung cancer cells to certain adrenal medulla target cells : DSGG expressed RCC or lung cancer cell lines showed strong adhesion to adrenal gland tissues. This adhesion process may initiate preferential adrenal metastasis. (IGAKU NO AYUMI : 194, 841-844,2000)
