Research Abstract |
The project involves a development of new catalytic enantioselective reactions, and their application to a catalytic asymmetric synthesis of biologically active natural products, such as strychnine, wortmannin and phorbol ester. Using the catalytic enantioselective Michael reaction by heterobimetallic complexes, such as ALB or La-linked BINOL, a practical synthetic route for the intermediate of strychynine was established. Using a kinetic resolution by an enantioselective intramolecular Heck reaction, a synthetic intermediate of wortmannin was developed. Further investigations toward the total synthesis of these biologically important compounds are currently ongoing.
