Research Abstract |
The purpose of the research is to design a computer assisted educational system which reasons an impassed student and gides him/her to the educational goal in the asynchronous distant educational environment. The problems in the research are what kind of data is required to find candidates, when the system interrupts the student who is in impassee and how to gide the impassed student to his or her educational goal, The head investigator have designed a web-based educational system which serves learners in the information course of first and second semestors. From the learning environment, Dr. Oda and Dr. Watanabe built a software which monitors individual learner's learning behavior and stores their learning records. From the data analysis and the fuzzy inference engine which evaluates web learner's behaviors and estimates whether the learner is in impasse, the estimated result is used for supporting teacher's pedagogical decision to gide the impassed learner to the educational goal. A learner does not always become aware of impasse in his or her learning processes. Therefore, the result can be used for the trigger of teacher's choice to the student who is in unconscious impasse. Dr. Takeuchi and Dr. Hirashima developed an intelligent system for supporting collaborative learning. Dr. Kuwada focused an instructional navigation technology in a multimedia system. Dr. Watanabe made an experiment of HyperClassroom that is a computer networked system of WWW learning environment and serves one hundred students. The head investigator organized a workshop in the first day of the International Conference of Computers in Education ICCE99 (4th - 7th, November in 1999, Chiba ). In the workshops, around 70 researchers participated and exchanged their theoretical knowledges and technologies.
