Research Abstract |
In 1998, we prepared environment for the fundamental hardware education and the textbook for the education as an implementation phase to the LSI design education. Furthermore, we researched the present condition of the hardware education, the environment for the LSI design and a problem at the technical college in the whole country. We purchased ten sets of the educational FPGA board designed last year, and lent it as an environment of the hardware education for the evaluation and use by the university and the college of technology. In 1999, we prepared the PC environment to execute the lecture of the circuit design using HDL and a practice, and the textbook for the education as a stage of a trial of the LSI design education curriculum. We thought that the simulator executed in the PC environment was used for the lecture on HDL, and effective learning became possible by verifying a function at the practice. And, we became practical circuit design and more effective LSI design by this textbook because the outline of the LSI, the design of HDL and the practice, and the design of the micro processing unit as an application are explained. In 2000, we used the textbook for the education made last year, and did an experiment from the design of the micro processing unit by VHDL to implement FPGA.And, the education of the micro processing unit, the embedded software and an experiment are necessary for the LSI design because the recent embedded system using the system LSI is mounted the micro processing unit on the chip. Furthermore, we designed the embedded FPGA board to evaluate the embedded software and hardware with the personal computer. As a result of the research, we became possible an education, experiment for the fundamental LSI design by the education of the circuit design by VHDL and the experiment of circuit implementation to FPGA as an LSI design education curriculum.
