| Research Abstract |
1.岡山観測所の91cm望遠鏡に、HBS(低分散偏光分光計)を装着して、小惑星(13 Egeria and 4 Vesta)の自転に伴う測光・偏光の時間変化の観測を続行した。天候に恵まれないこともあって、観測データの質は良くなかったが、偏光量の有為な時間変動がみつかった。また、これまでのデータに基づいて、偏光とアルベドとの相関関係を仮定して、3 Juno等の小惑星の形状・表面アルベド分布を解明した。3 Junoの表面が異なるアルベド物質によって被われるとするモデルが、我々の観測結果と一致することが分かったが、4 Vestaで見られるような、明るいフェーズで、低い偏光度が現れるといった輝度と偏光量との顕著な関係は得られなかった。
2.レーザー光による、レゴリス表面の光散乱室内実験を継続した。反射光強度や、その位相角依存性が、レゴリス模擬試料の粒径によって変化する(細粒になるにつれて、アルベドが増加)ことが分かった。
3.実施の最終年度ということで、これまでの成果をイタリアで6月に開かれた小惑星会議(ASTEROIDS2001)において報告した。(i)Laboratory Study on Surface Structure of Regolith, N. Tomita et. al.
