Research Abstract |
Phototrophic organisms respond to various light environments for the purpose of optimization of photosynthesis directly or indirectly. However, the molecular mechanism of light acclimation has not yet been elucidated in detail. We took advantage of transformable cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp.PCC 6803 for molecular analysis of light-responsive mechanism. Genes we have identified in this study are slr2031 (putative Ser/Thr protein phosphatase), spkA (Ser/Thr protein kinase), spkB (Ser/Thr protein kinase), pisJl operon (phytochrome-like photoreceptor and signal transduction pathway genes). We also analyzed high light-responsive genes by using DNA microarray. Through our works, outline of the whole image was given for molecular mechanism with which cyanobacteria respond to light environments.
