Research Abstract |
Processing technology was studied basically for sub-micron cellular plastics in this paper. The continuous processing system was constructed using extruder and was verified propriety of this system. In order to investigate cell morphology and cell structure, microcellular polystyrene samples were produced under various conditions by the above processing system. Concretely, foaming die, which can be varied pressure in die, was prepared. The effect of pressure drop in die on cell morphology of microcellular plastics was examined using this changeable die. In addition, the effect of blowing agent contents, temperature in die and besides additioner on that of microcellular plastics was also investigated. Using this system, polystyrene resin were foamed and gotten samples having relative close and uniform cell structure. The cell sizes, cell density and foam magnification were affected strongly on COィイD22ィエD2 contents, pressure and temperature in die. There was no effect of lead stearate as an additioner on cell size but calcium carbonate affected considerably on cell size. Sub-micron cellular plastic processing by extruder can be foamed fine cell structure by controlling pressure in die and selecting additioner.
