Research Abstract |
The intensity distributions of line spectra were measured to investigate the effect of jacket glass tube for inductively-coupled metal-halide-lamp. Since the results, obtained for the lamp having jacket glass tube, have already been published, the results for the same kind lamp without jacket glass tube will be shown and compared with the former. The intensity distributions of line spectra (437.447nm:Sc ion, 479.152nm:Sc atom, 615.423nm:Na atom), emitted from inductively-coupled metal-halide-lamp (tube diameter 27mm, tube height 10 mm; NaI:16.3mg, ScI3:4.1mg, Xe:26.7kPa) were measured for both axial and radial directions with moving the lamp by a x-y-z translational stage and with varying RF power (150-300W) as a parameter. 1) Asymmetric distributions are observed at low RF powerless than 200 W for Sc ion and Sc atom, otherwise the distributions are rather symmetric. ii) Intensity of Sc ion increases with increase of RF power up to 200 W, then decreases up to 300 W. This differs from the monotonic decrease of that for the lamp having jacket. iii) Intensities of Sc atom and Na atom do increase largely with increase of RF power only beyond 200 W. This differs from the monotonic increase of those over the whole range of RF power for the lamp having jacket. iv) Temperature, estimated from ratios of Sc atom and Sc ion lines at their peaks, are higher by from 300 to 1,000 K than that for the lamp having jacket assumed the same electron density.
