| Research Abstract |
This study aims to establish principles of architectural conservation and to propose practical system for it.
To establish those principles, following works were done ;
1) to analyze actual conservation cases,
2) to describe history of modern Japan to clarify the background of modernization,
3) to make overall view of the conservation problems in 1990s inJapan.
All the works were published in a report titled "Theoretical study of conservation of Modern Architecture in Japan".
At the same time, I took part in the DOCOMOMO international movement to preserve modern architecture, and made provisional list of modern architecture in Japan in corroboration with other researchers. I organized as a president of DOCOMOMO Japan and as a chairman the exhibition of modern architecture in Japan as a part of DOCOMOMO movement.
