Research Abstract |
It is suggested that the development of the cancer is dependent of the environmental factors, especially, the dietary patterns. Therefore, we started the studies of preventive methods against cancer. The study included two examinations. One is the comparative study of the fecal mutagenicity between healthy group and high risk group for colorectal cancer, who have multiple colorectal tumors, aged between 40〜65 years old, have no history of intestinal resection except appendectomy, be presently free of malignant disease, and have no serious complications. Another is the study of the effect of the dietary guidances on the fecal mutagenicity of the high risk group. The high risk groups were divided to 4 groups as follows, 1)dietary guidance + biscuit containe whert bran, 2)dietary guidance + tablet of lactic bacteria, 3)dietary guidance + both of biscuit and tablet, 4)dietary guidance only. For the comparative study, we observed fecal mutagenicity and obtained some results as follows: 1)18 of 383 samples showed mutagenicity in high risk group. 2)Fecal mutagenicity of the high risk group was tend to lower than that of the healthy group. For the examination for the effects of dietary guidance, mutation assay for about 1200 fecal samples and follow-up observation was now continued.
