Research Abstract |
Glucose metabolism of malignant tumor is generally increased, and anaerobic glucose metabolism is superior to the aerobic metabolism. Lactate is a main metabolite by the anaerobic metabolism. By measuring thelactate, they should be able to evaluate the activity of the tumor. We carried out this research in order to clarify the relationship between the changes of tumor glucose metabolism and the apoptosis after irradiation. The lactate concentration of the radiation induced fibrosarcoma (RIF-1) transplanted to the mouse was measurable by using ^1H-MRS.The lipid content of the intratumorale was abounding for the lymphoma, the lactate concentration of the human lymphoma transplanted to the nude mouse was not able to be measured by ^1H-MRS. The ratio of the lactale concentration of the RIF-1 tumor before and after glucose injection was calculated and was used as a standard of the glucose metabolism of the tumor. There was no change of the lactate ratio by after 6 hours of the irradiation (20Gy). The lactate ratio is lowering after 12 hours of the irradiation. In the histological evaluation by a H-E stain, there was no change by after 24 hours of the irradiation. From this result, it seemed to be possible to predict the radiation effect from lactate evaluation by ^1H-MRS. In the RIF-1 tumor, the appearance of the apoptosis was not confirmed by TUNEL method.
