Research Abstract |
Effects of preheating, annealing and optical breaching on OSL were investigated to get the optimal conditions for routine measurements. Fine grain and coarse grain OSL techniques were applied to cultural layers of several archaeological sites. The features of the OSL dating results are as follows : 1.Comparatible with TL and archaeological ages Nakajima-yama site, Harasekasahari site, Sodehara3 site and Kanmuri site Even dating of tephra samples, OSL technique is more suitable than TL one in case that the tephra is a secondary deposit. 2.Does dependence of OSL is not systematic and meaningful data was not obtained. Kamitakamori site, SD-2 Layer at Sodehar3 site and Kaminohara site Most of them showed younger age than TL and archaeological ages. Throughout the research term, the following results have been obtained : 1.Fine grain technique was established, 2.The tephra sample which was contaminated with surrounding soil when it redeposited is successfully dated by OSL technique. 3.OSL techniques have been applied to 8 sites ranging Paleolithic to Jomon periods. As a whole, OSL dating technique is successfully applied to most of the cultural layers except special cases. Concerning the OSL dating using quartz course grains, dose dependence is not systematic in some case. This should be solved in near future.
