| Research Abstract |
The purpose of the present research is to develop a practical learner-controlled CAL authoring/executing system for personal computers. The CAL authoring/executing system as a product named 'KAKITUBATA' has following features :
1)Learner-control functions by hypertext-type jumping mechanism,
2)Guidance functions to support the learner's navigations in networks of instructional material,
3)Easy-to-edit contrivance and the use of LOGO-type simple language to support the authoring of CAL courseware by teachers.
4)Use of multimedia instructional materials such as CD-ROM, voice, music/sound, and animations.
More than 200 CAL coursewares were developed using 'KAKITUBATA' and the system has been revised and enlarged continuously through the feedback informations from those users (Current DOS version is M900).
On the other side, we started developing a next-stage Windows version 'KAKITUBATA II' to incorporate recent rapid technological progress of personal computers. A prototype version of the new 'KAKITUBATA' were now in operation and in preparation to open to the KAKITUBATA users for evaluation.
