| Research Abstract |
1999年はSophus Lie(1842-1899)の没後100年の記念すべき年にあたる。数年前より、国際ソフイス・リー研究所長のKomrakovと本研究代表者が中心となり、99年に“100 Years after Sophus Lie"(SL100)と題してヨーロッパと日本において一連の国際研究集会を開催する企画を進めてきた。
このSL100準備のため、1998年9月7日-9月17日、ロシアのカザンにおいて研究会“Towards 100 years after SophusLie"を開いた。日本からは、森本、大森、佐藤ら11名が、ロシアからは、Komrakov,Onishchik,Graev,ら20余名が参加し、25をこえる講演発表を基調にし、活発な討論を展開した。これらの成果は報告論文集としてカザン大学のLobachevskii Journal of Mathematicsに近く発表される。また99年のSL100について協議した結果、国際研究集会は一本化して日本で開催することに決めた。
帰国後、日本でのSL100開催の準備のため、森本と志磨裕彦が代表となり、「ソフイス・リー没後百年に向けて」と題して、11月4日-6日、山口大学において幾何学研究会を開いた。カザン研究会の参加者をはじめ、幾何学、表現論関係の専門家30名余りが参加し、研究交流を行うと同時にSL100について協議し、国際研究集会“Lie groups,Geometric structures,and Dirfferential equations-100years after Sophus Lie"を1999年12月13日-12月17日、数理解析研究所に於いて開催することに決定した。
