Research Abstract	今年度は以下の3点について研究を行なった。 (1)アゲハが交尾を完遂するためには、1対の尾端光受容器からの入力が不可欠である。オスは尾端光受容器を両側性に除去されると、正常に交尾できない。ところが光受容器を片方ずつ除去されると、その効果に左右非対称性が見られた。予備実験では、右のみを処理されたオスの70%が交尾に成功したが、左のみを処理されたオスの交尾成功率は42%に留まった。11年度の第1の目標は、この行動実験をくり返すことによって、この現象が統計的に有意であることを確かめることであった。結果、有為性は確認され、現在論文を準備中である。 (2)メスの尾端光受容器は交尾成立に不可欠ではない。メスの場合はむしろ産卵行動に際してこの感覚器を利用しているらしい。これを確認するためにメス尾光受容器除去を行い、産卵行動に対する影響を調べた。結果、メスは尾端にある光受容器と機械受容器の双方が正常に機能しないかぎり、葉に卵を産みつけることができないことがわかった。この結果は、現在論文を投稿中である。 (3)微小脳研究へのもうひとつの寄与として、私はおなじアゲハで視覚系、特に色覚神経機構の解析を行なっている。主として複眼網膜における色受容細胞の配列と性質を解明することに主力を注ぎ、紫受容細胞や赤受容細胞の分光感度成立の生理学的基盤などを解明することができた。
