| Research Abstract |
ドイツ電子シンクロトロン研究所(DESY)に建設された電子・陽子衝突型加速器HERAを用いて、電子陽子間の相互作用を精密に測定し、新粒子の探索と陽子構造を測定するのがこの研究の目的である。測定に用いるZEUS実験装置は、我々を含む12カ国の国際共同により建設し、順調に稼動中であり、さらなる改良が進められている。
昨年に引き続き、高い運動量移行(Q^2>200GeV^2)での(陽)電子・陽子衝突反応での中性流及び荷電流反応の反応断面積の解析を進めている。得られた結果は、標準模型の予想とよく一致した。これらの結果をもとに、陽子内部のクォーク・グルーオンの分布を求める作業を、量子色力学のモデルを使って進めている。既に暫定的な結果を国際会議で公表しており、論文投稿の準備もほぼ整った。
HERA加速器の改造のために、今年度は実験データを収集できなかったが、改造後の高輝度実験のためのZEUS測定器改良を予定通り進めることができた。その一環として、高精度シリコン飛跡検出器をZEUS検出器内に組み込んだ。我々の担当した読み出し回路は順調に働いている。年度を通して宇宙線によるテストを進めている。
日本グループが担当する初段トリガーシステムの拡張準備を完了した。従来のシステムの能力を約4倍に高める、新しいトリガーボードを設置し、平成14年春からの物理実験開始に向けて、物理グループの要請するトリガー論理を既に組み込んで動作が確認できている。加速器の調整が済み次第、すぐに高輝度による実験を進める準備が整った。
