Research Abstract |
Successions and Modifications in the Tradition of Platonism -A Study of Transcendence and Dependence of Ideas on Times- We have aimed to clarify the concrete aspects of successions and modifications of platonism that flowsi in the base of European philosophy. From ancient times through modern times , and from the Occident through the Near Middle East, India, and East Asia, we have investigated the concrete aspects of successions and modifications of Platonic philosophy and Neoplatonic philosophy started by Plotinus. Neoplatonic philosophy inherited Platonic Ideas and co-opted the philosophy of Aristotle, influenced upon Islamic philosophers in forming the foundation of Islamic philosophy. Philosophers that we discussed are; Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Augustinus, and Pseudo-Dionysius in Ancient Times; Eriugena, Palamas, and Thomas in Medieval Times; Bruno, Hegel, Nietzsche, and Bergson in Modem Times. We published our first issue of STUDIA NEOPLATONICA in August 2002, and- second issue was published in February 2003. These results of Investigations are received with keenest interest internationally. We have established an affinitive relationships with The International Association of Neoplatonism and are investigating our studies still further.
