Research Abstract |
High-performance ArF laser abration equipment for induced coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) were introduced in 1999 during this research period for analyses of covering various kinds of geological samples. Research targets are experimental partitioning data of elements, ore textures and diffusion kinetics of some sulfide minerals in ore deposits. Distribution experiment of coblat and nickel were carried out for the minor concentration between pyrite and pyrrhotite. Ore textures of some resources minerals in ores from seafloor hydrothermal ore deposits and in ores of the Cyprus-type copper deposit, Oman are precisely described for genetic interpretation of ore deposit from kinetic processes of trace element partitioning, crystal size distribution, and the diffusion nature of sulfide minerals. 1. Using ICP-MS with the laser aser abration system, spot analyses of trace elements (100 micrometer in diameter) were performed for trace elemental analysss to obtain partitioning values of coblat and nickel between pyrite and pyrrhotite. Synthetic experiments for Co-Ni distribution between pyrite and pyrrhotite reveal that the short time duration of less than 30 days are not enough to achieve equilibrium conditions even 500℃. 2. Spot analyses data are usefully applied to a natural samples for geological interpretation of formation temperatures by the this microanalyses of direct fluid inclusions in quartz and sphalerite. The ICP-MS analysis data are compared to PIXE analysis results for chemical conditions of mineralization processes such as tungsten deposit of the Yamaguchi skarn deposit, Iwate Prefecture and as alteration and Cu-Zn mineralization processes of seafloor hydrothermal deposits in the Desmos caldera, Manus basin, western Pacific Ocean. The microanlytical data of trace elements and stable isotopes of O, C and H were presented at the International Geological Conference in Oman.
