Research Abstract	本研究者らは従来の研究で電気光学結晶の周期分極反転による疑似速度整合を利用した数テラヘルツ,サブピコ秒の高速性をもつ電気光学変調器,偏向器を達成しているが,これによる超短光パルス発生では低消光比,残留背景光が問題となっていた.本研究ではこの問題の解決するため,分極反転の断面形状を工夫して,変調器,偏向器にレンズ変調効果を加味し,必要パルス生成,圧縮部を除く部分の光を除去する方法を提案するとともに,その動作実証を試みている.以下が現在までの研究成果である. ・1高品位のドメイン反転技術の確立: 高圧電界印加によるドメイン反転でより高精度を得るため,反転電流を実時間積分し反転電荷量をモニタできるシステムを構築した.この結果,安定な分極反転が得られるようになった. ・2レンズ位相変調器の最適化設計と動作確認: 電気光学結晶にはLiTaO3を用い,変調指数分布が2乗形となり,正確かつ高効率にレンズ変調効果をもたらす反転分布形状を求めた(これは2乗と言いよりは線形に近いものとなった).これに基づき,レンズ変調器を製作し,良質のレンズ変調器として動作することを確認した. ・3レンズ変調効果をもつ偏向器の設計と動作確認: 線形に偏向し,往復でレンズ効果が凹凸となるレンズ偏向器を設計,試作し動作確認に成功した. ・4超短光パルス生成実験: 2のレンズ位相変調器に回折格子対とスリットを併用し,約500fsの背景光の非常に少ない繰り返し16GHzのパルス列の生成に成功,また,3のレンズ効果をもつ偏向器にスリットを用い2ps程度の帰りパルスが抑圧されたパルス列を得ることにも成功している.いずれも世界初の試みである.今後さらにファブリ・ペロー変調器に適用可能な低挿入損失のレンズ変調器の開発研究に汲みたい.
