| Research Abstract |
この研究では、パーソナル・コンピュータ(以下パソコンと略す)を利用して、今日まで出版されたチョーサーの夢物語詩諸刊本の中で、よく利用されてきた(1)The Book of the DuchessではBenson版(The Riverside Chaucer (Boston : Houghton Mifflin,1987)),Robinson版(The Works of Geoffrev Chaucer (Boston:Houghton Mifflin,1957)),Phillips版(Chaucer's Dream Poetry (London:Longman,1997))(2)The House of FameではBenson版,Robinson版,Havely版(Chaucer's Dream Poetry (London:Longman,1997))(3)The Parliament of FowlsではBenson版,Robinson版,Havely版,Brewer版(Geoffrey Chaucer:"The Parlement of Foulys"(Manchester:Manchester University Press,1972))のテクスト比較を実践した。
それぞれのテクストの顕著な特徴をパソコンによって包括的に把握することを可能にするために、まず最新のBenson版テクストを基準にした各行が対応しているテクストを作成した。その際、用いた手順は実績報告書(冊子)の序文(英文)に述べたとおりである。最終的に、各テクストを行単位に出力し、一目で単語が共通するところと違うところが把握できるようなリストを作成した。添付した実績報告書(冊子)の本文が上記(1)(2)のそれである。(3)については大学研究紀要で公表する予定である。これは2つの章から成り、Part I("Lines with Different Word Forms")は単語の綴字の異同を一目で把握可能にするもので、Part II("Word Form Correspondence Index")は対応する単語を容易にチェックすることができるインデックスである。本書による研究成果は研究機関誌に発表する予定である。
