Research Abstract

3次元空間における交代絡み目の交点数に関するテイト予想は約1世紀を経て1987年に、カウフマン、村杉、ティスツルスウェイトにより独立に肯定的に解決された。昨年度までの研究で、厚み付き(向き付け可能な)曲面における結び目・絡み目理論において類似定理を得た。本年度は、そこで用いられた基本的な2つの手法である「吸い込み補題(engulfing lemma)」(=同値なリンクを表わす2つの曲面上のリンクダイアグラムの曲面における正則近傍は、ある条件下で、曲面上のアイソトピー変形により一方を他方の部分集合となるようにできる)と「双対状態補題(dual state lemma)」(=曲面上のリンクダイアグラムにおける1組のdual statesに対し、各stateによる交点解消を行って得られる2つの交点を持たないリンクダイアグラムの連結成分数の和は、ある条件下で、元のリンクダイアグラムの正則近傍の境界の連結成分数を超えない)について、証明の改良、結果の一般化及び応用を試み、進展があった。特に、後者の手法の方向では、リンクダイアグラムのstateによる交点解消後の連結成分数とサポート(=リンクダイアグラムの正則近傍)の境界成分数の関係が本質的であるが、これに関してサポートのハンドル分解を用いた、リンクダイアグラムのstateによる交点解消の「サポート内での標準的実現」という概念の導入は研究の進展に大きく寄与した。また、各分担者による、関連する基礎研究として、それぞれの専門分野(幾何学的トポロジー、位相力学系、無限次元多様体論、幾何学的群論、位相空間論、微分幾何学、多元環論等)における興味深い多くの成果が得られた。特に、柔軟な発想で、様々な手法を駆使した川村の活発な研究スタイルは、近い将来、本研究の方向での成果も期待できるものとして注目したい。
