Research Abstract |
There has been a significant progress on observation method using imaging detector in the field of cosmic ray research. In may cases of cosmic ray research projects, they install an array matrix of photo-multipliers (PMTs) in their imaging camera devices on the focus plane of the potical system as basic components. In these cases, they need to supply and distribute high-voltage onto hundreds of PMTs in each camera in order to keep the gain of camera uniform and stable. The stability of high-voltage supply can contribute to the determination precision of primary energies of cosmic rays. One can solve the problem if he keeps monitoring each supplied voltage in an online way and feedback the results to stabilize the total gain of each PMT. The cost-performance is important because of the large number of supply channels too. To fulfill the above basic requirements, we determine the goals of our high-voltage power supply/monitor/control system at the beginning of this development studies as follows: Output voltage dynamic range: 0〜1100V Setting resolution: Less than 1V Monitoring resolution: Less than 1V Max. supply current to PMT: 0.5 mA Ripple P-P 1OmV Mass production cost: 3000yen/ch We have done the R&D and the achievements are listed as follows: Non-linearity: <0.6V (Boss for setting and monitoring) Voltage offset ch-by-ch deviation <0.12V Temperature dependence <0.01 V/℃ Further more, we have recognized that the present mass production cost estimate is 3,800yen/ch totally including high-voltage supplies, distribution, monitor, and control systems. We can conclude that the goals set at the beginning has been almost perfectly achieved on the performance and cost aspects.
