Research Abstract

Observations of Energy spectra of Cosmic Ray Nuclei with Super JACEE experiments JACEE (Japanese-American Cooperative Emulsion Experints) data set of emulsion chambers were analized and cosmic ray nuclei energy spectra has been studied.
The analysis system had been constructed with both a motorized microscope stage control system (Oriental motor : alpha stepping motor) and high speed image processing (recgnition) system (HITACHI process computing : IP5000), and analysis software were developped.
The methods of recgnition of charged particle tracks in emulsion plates, typically, are binarized mutifocus emulsion images and their coincidence with given image shifts.
In order to achieve high performance rate, we activated pipelined image processing for both preprocessing and data calculation. The motorized microscope system were replaced from DC servo motors to stepping motors, because servo systems had needed vibrational feedbacks to stop a stage. The stepping motor system has no such a vibrational motion in image processing sequence. The efficiency of track recgnition are not high enough to perform complete scannings in certain emulsion area, because of high rate low energy cosmic ray background and their chance-coincidence.
Upto "KNEE"energy region, calorimetry and rigidity analysis are being performed with primary nuclei charge analysis.
