Research Abstract |
The effects of ultrasonic vibration on freezing of onion cells were investigated to develop the active freezing control of biological tissue. The first stage, onion epidermal cells were immersed in the flowing cooling liquid which was immiscible to water. Under various cooling rate, there were not very much change in freezing temperature of the onion cells. When the irradiating rate of ultrasonic vibration exceeded a certain degree, freezing temperature of the onion cells rised about 5℃ and intracellular flow induced by ultrasonic vibration were observed. The second stage, to investigate the freezing control for three dimensional large scale biological tissue, onion bulb cells were used. Using the same freezing method for the onion epidermal cells, surface and internal temperature changes of the bulb cells were measured. The temperature changes were observed very much difference between the case of irradiating ultrasonic vibration and no irradiating case.
