Research Abstract

The importance of the energy and environmental problems is not recognized sufficiently. The education in these problems will be significant for the students. Then, it will be more effective to make experiments than simple explanations.
The author started studying the development of the educational devices on the new energy and the environmental problems for this reason. The research has been carried out with accepting the suggestions of the students after the discussions.
The results are as follows.
(1) The experiment on the the solar panel(Dependence of the current and voltage on the angle between the ray and the solar panel)was included in the curriculum.
(2) The sun-tracking device that uses solar panels was developed. The energy generated by the device is 1.4 times more than the energy generated by the fixed under the condition of clear weather.
(3) The solar car with one seat was developed to exhibit and to try a drive on the occasion of the open house of our college. The car interested greatly visitors especially junior high school pupils.
(4) The author participated in the project of the exhaust gas treatment by dielectric barrier discharge in Iwate University, in order to develop the device treating the flue gas for the education on the environmental problems. The device analyzing the flue gas, the acid rain, and so on, by the quadrupole mass analyzer was produced. There is, however, some room for furthor improvement of the device.
(5) The system of devices for the education on the hydrogen energy was produced. The system is composed of the electrolyzer to generate the hydrogen gas, the hydrogen purifier by palladium alloy film, and the reservoir.
The future subject is to ascertain the effects of the education.
