Research Abstract |
Traveling of vehicles on highway bridges causes bridge vibration. The bridge vibration propagates in the ground through bridge foundation and in the air through bridge superstructure. These ground-bone vibration and air-bone vibration seem to affect sometimes people's life and health. Ground vibration, one of the specific items in the environmental assessment, has prediction method and evaluation method and various kinds of countermeasures have been studied. On the contrary, infrasound that is defined air-bone vibration with 1-80Hz components is not included in the specific items but included in the important items in the assessment in our country at present. Then prediction method and evaluation method of infrasound have not been established. This study aims to develop a comprehensive model for assessment of bridge vibration caused by traveling of vehicles. 1) Study of characteristics of bridge vibration Time-series analysis and FFT analysis were conducted using data of bridge vibration,

ground vibration, infrasound and noise measured at the highway bridges in order to study bridge vibration characteristics, namely the dynamic response of bridge members caused by traveling of vehicles near expansion joint and effects of structural conditions on the spatial distribution of infrasound. 2) Mechanism of generation and propagation of infrasound Influence of structural conditions was clarified on the bridge vibration induced by traveling of vehicles over bump and amplification characteristics of transfer of bridge vibration into infrasound in frequency domain. 3) A model of assessment of infrasound induced by bridge vibration It is required for the assessment of infrasound to clarify the generation model of bridge vibration because infrasound is induced by bridge vibration caused by traveling of vehicles. Therefore, precise simulation model of bridge vibration is developed in this study in order to utilize assessment of infrasound. Numerical analysis using this simulation model was conducted to study the effects of structural conditions of bridges and dynamic properties of vehicles on infrasoand. Less
