Research Abstract |
In the first year, major limit states presented in the design codes of civil and building structures are listed up and compared under the class of steel, concrete and soil/foundation structures. These limit states are arranged to corespond with the standpoint of "human life saving", "keeping of load carrying capacity" and "early restoration". In the other hand, it is studied how the difficulty of restoration due to the characteristics of the limit state in structure under disaster effects the optimivation in planning of restoration of network system, regarding structures as elements in network system. In the second year, comparison and harmonization among the different kind of design codes prgressed further. In the other hand, spesified theme is settled on steel pier of roadway bridges. That is, comparison of limit states between the single and rigid frame piers, effect of diference in safety coefficients to resulting reliability, etc.・・・ are carried out. System-elemnt problem is also important interest in this year. It is tried toallocate non-unique(classified ) target reliabilities to each elemet refrecting its effect of failure to system performance. In the final year, forementhond works are summed up and further theme is settled. As an aplication of reliability design, detailed cross sectinal design of steel rigid frame is carried out under variable target reliability. Target reliability is tried to decide considering seismic activity and traffic demand. In addition, this research work has also social merit to support "Basis of Strucyural DESIGN FOR BUILDING AND CIVIL ENGINEERING WORKS" of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Its explanation in background is also prepared to present.
