Research Abstract |
Results obtained from this project are summerized as follows : 1. The level of cAMP response element (CRE) modulator (CREM) mRNA in rat testis was increased with development of Vitamin A deficient (VDA). After administration of retinoic acid (ATRA) into VAD rats, the level of CREM mRNA in rat testis was significantly decreased at 4 hrs. But, expression level of ATF-1 mRNA, a member of CREB/CREM/ATF family, was not influenced by ATRA administration. 2. It was observed that CREMmRNA expretion in VAD testis after administration of retinol was gradually decreased, and reached to the lowest level at 16 hrs, whereas in the case of ATRA adoministration CREMmRNA expretion was quickly decreased. These observations suggest that retinoids were includingin expression of CREM-gene on spermatogenesis. 3. There are many CREM isoforms produced by selective splicing. We demonstrated that what kind of isoform was affected with ATRA.In the VAD rat testis, expression level of CREMτ was hgiher than others including CREM α, β, γ, and spesifically repressed by administration of ATRA. 4. The effect of VAD and retinoid administration into VAD rats on retinal dehydrogenase 1 (RalDH-1) mRNA expression in testis was studied. RalDH-1mRNA expression level in VAD rat testis was significantly increased. The administration of ATRA did not influence to the expression of RalDH-1mRNA, however, in the case of retinol administration, RalDH-1mRNA expression was gradually decreased.
