Research Abstract |
To develop a casting alloy with magnetics, three kinds of binary alloy were prepared as high-carat precious alloy, 72wt%Au-Co, 75wt%Au-Fe, 4Owt%Pd-Co by weight percent. All of these alloys could be fused by gas/oxygen flame. The Pd-Co alloy has the most homogeneous structure in a solid solution and a 182.5 gf attractive force. It also showed the highest corrosion resistance in NaCl sol. and 12.7 μg of Co ion/cm^2 was dissolved into the NaCl sol. at 37℃ for 7 days. It seems that there are some advantages in using a casting alloy with magnetics, but there were no precious metals, Au or Pd, detected in NaCl sol. from any of these alloys. Six kinds of precious metal alloys with Co or Fe were prepared and the melting properties, mechanical properties, magnetic forces and microstructures of these alloys were investigated. An experimental alloy (No.6) consists of 48wt%Pd, 32wt%Co, 14wt%Ag, 3wt%Au, 2wt%Zn and 1wt% In showed a melting range of 1148-1192℃, hardness of 197 Hv, tensile strength of 318 Mpa, elongation of 14%, attractive force 415.0 gf and a homogeneous structure without porosity when cast.
