Research Abstract |
The color fastness can be rated through visual assessment by using two grey scales. A result by the traditional method based on visual assessment various from observer to observer. An attempt has been made find out the difference of visual assessments by using various specimens. I have attempted to know the relationship between visual assessments and instrumental assessments for color fastness of staining, change in color, and change in depth of color. As a result, I have found out the followings. 1. A rektionship between visual and instrumental assessment for staining have been found by the medium of color fastness contours. 2. A formula based on color depth might be more proper for the application to assess staining as a distance in a color space. 3. The correlation coefficient for the specimens of change in color was especially high when using CIE94 color difference formula. 4. I have tried to investigate about the colorimetric performance of CIE94 color difference formula. 5. The correlation coefficient for the specimens of change in depth was especially high for the specimens when using Nc#value and SEK grade. 6. In the case of change in depth of color, the instrumental assessment according the color fastness formulae was much better, and in the case of change in color the instrumental assessment according the color difference formulae was better. And then I have found out the difference of visual assessment by using two grey scales from three countries(Japan, Thai and Hong Kong). In the future, with the Internet shop progresses, the common recognition for color fastness evaluation is necessary for every country. I anticipate that the assessment will be changed into the instrumental method instead of visual assessment which is different depending on different country.
