Research Abstract |
Workflow management systems are being introduced in many organizations to automate the business process. The next step for introducing workflow management system into organization is to realize the business process among multiple organizations by interconnecting the existing workflow process in each organization. We call it interworkflow. On the other hand, business-to-business electronic commerce infrastructure for web-based application systems has been prepared with the growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web. And then, the realization of interconnection among organizations in any scale is required. In the future, it is expected that fusion of business-to-business electronic commerce enable a large number of interested parties to provide various services. Electronic commerce processes are able to model by cooperation with multiple workflow management systems. But, the current monolithic workflow management systems can not fulfill adaptable cooperation in organizations. So, we th

ink that some mechanisms for realizing rapid and flexible interconnection among organizations are important. We have designed the proposed support mechanism based on the idea of autonomous decentralized system. Autonomous decentralized system has no central component such as client-server system and consists of autonomy components. In this study, we propose the concept for support mechanism with realizing rapid and flexible interconnection among organizations and describe the developed prototype system to confirm its realization. These support mechanisms realize interworkflow by rapid and flexible interconnection among organizations by the feature of addition, cancellation and modification. We implemented prototype system that presents the application of business to consumer electronic commerce for enabling changing suppliers of services according to customer request. This prototype system indicates to be able to handle diversity of customer needs and make possible to provide dynamic cooperation by support mechanisms. Less
