| Research Abstract |
太陽系近傍の分子ガス総量を観測的に求める目的で、高銀緯分子雲の掃天観測を行なったので報告する。
1.観測および現在までに新たに得られた知見
本年度は、チリ共和国ラスカンパナス天文台内に設置されている名古屋大学「なんてん」電波望遠鏡を用いた高銀緯分子雲の掃天観測に着手した。本年度の観測の目的は分子雲の大まかな分布を調べる点にあるため、一酸化炭素分子の回転遷移に伴なう電波(^<12>CO(J=1-0))を用いて観測を行なった。観測領域は、赤外線天文衛星(IRAS)によって得られた赤外線強度分布図を基に選定した。本年度は銀経190度〜250度、銀緯-5度〜-40度の領域、総計2,000平方度を8ないし12分角グリッドで観測を行なった。本年度の研究によって得られた主な知見は以下の通りである。
(1)30個程度の分子雲を新たに検出した。
(2)今回の観測領域における分子雲の個数密度は、銀緯-10度〜-40度の領域において、1平方度あたり0.02個程度であった。
(3)分子雲1個あたりの質量を100太陽質量と仮定すると、太陽系近傍の分子ガス総量は、8万太陽質量程度と推定される。
2.今後の計画
来年度は、さらに広範な領域に対して高銀緯分子雲の観測を行なうとともに、個々の分子雲の質量を正確に求めるため検出された分子雲に対して詳細な観測を行なう予定である。
